About Us
In Kenya, development faces numerous hurdles, including the Africa Production gap, high unemployment rates, corruption, and accountability issues. The Companies Act of 2015 streamlines organizational registration and operation processes, particularly benefiting non-governmental organizations, to boost productivity.
Devolution implemented by county governments is reshaping Kenya’s developmental landscape by prioritizing local needs and distributing resources accordingly. This decentralized approach holds promise for driving inclusive, relevant, and sustainable development across the nation.
Despite concerted efforts, many communities in Kenya still grapple with pressing challenges such as food insecurity, youth unemployment, corruption, and gender-based violence. Additionally, inadequate funding for education exacerbates these issues. Recognizing these challenges, the Community Initiative for Change and Development (CICAD) emerges as a beacon of hope, proposing innovative strategies to empower communities and foster sustainable development.
CICAD believes that by shifting mindsets and embracing innovative community empowerment approaches, sustainable progress can be achieved, ultimately improving the overall well-being of communities in Kenya.
At our core, we are driven by a profound commitment to empower communities and foster positive change. Through a multifaceted approach encompassing training, advocacy, and the establishment of local frameworks
CICAD’s mission to promote social justice and sustainable development is centered around uplifting marginalized communities in Kenya, particularly those residing in marginalized counties and urban informal settlements.
